On Saturday morning, we arrived at the San Francisco Airport three hours early, as recommended for international flights. All went smoothly with checked in, and we were thrilled that we could use our Delta one day pass for their lounge (see picture to the left). Now that’s traveling in style! The KLM 9 1/2 hour flight to Amsterdam went without a hitch, but as usual, I could not sleep on the plane. We watched several movies which helped pass the time. After about a four hour layover in Amsterdam, we boarded our final flight to Hamburg arriving Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. German time, but 5:00 a.m. PDT. Boy are we beat!
I dragged myself to go on a “Get to know the neighborhood” walk late this afternoon, where I met up with our travel companions, Ruth and Liisa from Santa Rosa. Grand Circle provided an orientation this evening and a lovely buffet dinner. We’ve been up for over 28 hours… Time to hit the hay!
